High speed doors exposed to weather

Applications for high speed doors often arise, where a door is required to provide a seal to the doorway, but the door has no awning protection from the weather, being rain and wind. A client on the northern beaches of Sydney had such an application, and was concerned with the prevailing rain and how the door would withstand this. No problem. DMF manufactured and installed the Series RL3000 door with a full weather top cover, including a fully enclosing motor cover, all fabricated in non-rusting clear anodised aluminium. This is a common solution by DMF to ensure a long lasting door solution. For protection against wind, this model has incorporated into the panel, a series of horizontal aluminium wind bars, providing the lateral stability of the panel when under wind loading. Under extreme storm winds however, it is recommended that the high speed doors be left in the open position and rely on the roller shutter to take the force of the wind. The wind loading capacity will depend on the size, and more so the width of the doorway, and the RL3000 can be configured up to about 100km/h wind load. In partnership with their German supplier, Efaflex Gmbh, DMF can supply another level of rapid doors that can withstand 140km/h and even up to 170km/h winds on special design.
