DMF have recently completed a project for BHP at one of their large mine sites in central Australia, supplying and overseeing 8 units of Efaflex high speed spiral doors. The model selected was the STR, which has a 900gsm PVC panel, with closely spaced windbars, and allowing speeds of over 1.5m/sec by tracking around the spiral design.
This model has a high wind capacity at 100km/h, remaining fully operational under this wind load, and the doors were 6m in height, and ranging from 6m to 7m in width.
The Efatronic controller are a simplified design with fully programmable features, and allow a single phase power source, with invertor control provide a soft start / stop operation of the door. This feature removes considerable loading of the door operation, especially when working at such high speeds with considerable angular momentum of the door blade.
The doors are complete with light curtain safety, which ensure the doors do not close with any object withing the opening. In addition activation of the doors are all by laser widescan sensors, which have the ability to determine cross traffic, safety zoning and virtual pullcord functions, all programmable by an app and Bluetooth.
DMF worked closely with the design team, head contractor, and BHP to deliver a product suited to the harsh conditions. These high speed door models are a premium product, manufactured in Germany by Efaflex Gmbh, under specification by DMF. The doors were installed by the head contractor, but DMF oversaw the installation and commissioning of the doors, employing our Senior Engineer to the site.
This is now the third minesite operated by BHP that DMF have supplied the Efaflex high speed doors to. DMF have enjoyed the success on many projects around Australia, installing and maintaining the Efaflex doors, with whom DMF have been an Australian partner for over 14 years.
