Aluflex project high wind

DMF recently completed a project for a recycling plant in Hemmant Qld, supplying four large Aluflex Fold Up doors. This is the second project completed for this client, and this had very specific wind capacity requirements, given the site’s close locality to the coast. With doors opening sizes at 6000H x 9500W, the doors had to withstand 200km/h wind force, a demanding design criteria for any door type! DMF have been supplying large fold up doors for about 8 years, working with a Turkish based specialist manufacturer Shipyarddoors, whom we represent in the Australian market. The doors were modified as Aluflex Hangar doors with 400mm thick wind beams separating the dual panel structure. Structural mounting design is important, and we worked with the client using 3D modelling to finalise the door design to ensure the required result. The door operating speed is 0.25m/sec and the panel opens by concertining to the top location, by the bottom beam being lifted by straps at each end of the door structure. These lifting mechanism encompasses an anti-crash brake system so that if a strap breaks, the door blade is immediately locked into a location, rather than dropping to the ground. Safety photo-electric light beams also prevent the door from closing is any traffic or objects are parked within the doorway. The activation of these doors is by induction floor loops to allow truck movements into the concealed building for waste tipping.

DMF have an extensive range of PVC and high speed door solutions, and together with their ownership under Premier Door Systems, can supply and install all around the country via a network of trained partners.
